PSDmate vs Mockey AI

Free-first AI mockup generator with 20,000+ templates across 60+ product categories. Here is where each tool wins for an Etsy print-on-demand shop, and which one to buy.

Short answer: Mockey is the strongest free option: 3 downloads a day at no cost, 20,000+ templates, and paid plans from $7/month. It does not accept PSD templates — you upload a PNG or JPG design onto Mockey's own scenes — and it renders one image at a time. PSDmate is the opposite trade: it costs more, brings no templates, and instead renders the PSD files you own in batch and publishes the resulting Etsy listings.

Where Mockey AI is the better buy

  • A real free tier with 3 downloads a day, enough to launch a first listing at zero cost.
  • Paid entry at $7/month undercuts almost everything else in the category.
  • 20,000+ templates across 60+ product categories, plus 3D and video mockups on higher plans.
  • No account setup friction and no Photoshop knowledge needed.

Pick Mockey AI if: You are starting out, testing a niche, or need a handful of mockups a week and the budget is genuinely zero.

Where PSDmate is the better buy

  • Uses PSD templates you own, so your scenes are not shared with every free-tier user.
  • Batch rendering across a folder of artwork rather than one upload at a time.
  • Composites through the template's Smart Object transform, so text and fine linework survive exactly as drawn.
  • Writes the Etsy listing and publishes it over the Etsy API.
  • Exports at the PSD's native canvas resolution.

Pick PSDmate if: You own PSD templates, you list in batches, and you need the scenes to be yours rather than the ones every other new seller is using.

How PSDmate works

You upload the PSD mockup templates you already own — bought from Creative Market, Envato or Etsy, or built from your own photography. PSDmate reads the Smart Object layer in each one, composites your artwork through the template’s own transform, and exports at the PSD’s native canvas size. Point it at a folder of artwork and it renders every design against every template in a single job, returns the set as a ZIP, writes the Etsy title, description and 13 tags from the rendered image, and publishes the draft listing to your shop over the Etsy API.

Frequently asked questions

Is Mockey AI actually free?

Yes, with limits: the free plan allows three downloads per day from the template library. Paid plans start at $7 per month and lift the download cap while adding 3D, video and AI tools.

Can Mockey use my own PSD mockup template?

No. Mockey works from its own hosted templates — you upload your design as a PNG or JPG and position it on their scene. Rendering a PSD file with Smart Object layers needs Photoshop or a PSD-based renderer.

Is a free mockup tool good enough for Etsy?

For your first listings, yes. The constraint appears at scale, where a daily download cap and manual one-at-a-time placement start costing more in time than a paid batch renderer costs in money.
